Mailforge alternative: Microsoft 365 inboxes, not a shared IP pool

By Mailforge’s pages read

Mailforge is one of a family of products from the Salesforge team. Mailforge itself sells mailboxes on shared infrastructure; their Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 mailboxes are a separate product, Primeforge, and dedicated servers are a third, Infraforge. Which one you compare against depends on what you want to send from, so this page covers Mailforge and Primeforge both.

Disclosure: we are coldemailinboxes.io, one of the two vendors compared. Every figure for Mailforge is from their own public pages, linked at the bottom.

Mailforge, Primeforge and Infraforge

Mailforge’s pricing page is direct about what it is: mailboxes that use "a shared IP pool, distributing your mailbox accounts among millions of businesses", and a pointer to Primeforge for Google or Microsoft. Infraforge is the dedicated-server option, at $4 a slot plus $99 per IP per month. Warmup is a fourth product, Warmforge. Few vendors in this category lay the options out that clearly, and it makes the comparison easy to set up.

Against Mailforge: what you send from

Mailforge at $3 a slot and their recommended 30 sends a day comes to $0.10 a month per daily email, $0.08 billed yearly. Our Microsoft inboxes are $0.10 too: $30 for 300 sends a day. On price per send the two are level, so the decision is what carries the mail. Mailforge mail goes out through their shared pool; ours goes out through Microsoft’s network from a tenant that belongs to one domain. We have not measured a placement difference and do not claim one. If you specifically want Microsoft 365 or Google accounts, Mailforge is not the product, Primeforge is.

Against Primeforge: the like-for-like comparison

Primeforge sells Google and Microsoft mailboxes at $4.50 each a month, around $3.76 billed yearly, with the same 2-3 per domain and 30 sends a day guidance. A hundred Microsoft mailboxes there is $450 a month, plus about 34 domains at $14 a year. Here it is $30 a month on one domain. The difference in shape matters as much as price: they spread mailboxes thinly across many domains and run each one harder; we put 100 Microsoft inboxes on one domain and run each one at 3 a day, so the domain carries 300.

Neither shape is the only correct one. Ours is cheaper per send and leaves you one domain to look after. Theirs means one domain’s trouble touches three mailboxes rather than a hundred. Cold email domain strategy walks through that trade.

Where Mailforge is the better choice

  • You want the cheapest mailboxes and are content with a shared pool.
  • You want pre-warmed domains and mailboxes, which they offer and we do not.
  • You want warmup, dedicated IPs or domain masking from the same family of products.
  • You automate provisioning: they publish an API, MCP server and CLI.
  • You already use Salesforge as your sequencer.

Where we are

Real Microsoft 365 inboxes at the same price per send as Mailforge’s shared pool, on a tenant no other customer touches. The domain is in your name and costs $12 once if we register it, rather than $14 a year.

What we can show for our own sending: across 11 campaigns on these Microsoft 365 inboxes, 26,698 leads contacted produced a 1.73% bounce rate. Reply rate was 1.9% and ranged from 0% to 4.1% campaign by campaign, because replies depend on the list and the copy, which we do not supply. These are our results, not customer results, and none of it was sent on Google. The full numbers and method are published.
